Historic East Boulevard House.jpgFamicos Foundation is located on the border of the Glenville and Hough neighborhoods, both rich in Cleveland history.  These neighborhoods were once home to some of Cleveland’s most influential residents.  The housing stock is grand and one doesn’t have to look far to find large Victorian style homes from the turn of the century.  Both neighborhoods are experiencing resurgence as these historic homes are being restored to their former beauty.  The Glenville neighborhood was a favorite vacation and summer location for Cleveland’s elite, it was named for its shady glens and was a large farming community.  During the 40’s and 50’s Glenville was referred to as the Gold Coast with its shops, clubs and dining along E. 105th Street.  The Hough neighborhood is home to League Park, once home to the Cleveland Indians and the Negro League.  League Park Stadium is slated for re-development and will include a baseball museum, new housing and economic development.

Both neighborhoods are located minutes away from University Circle, Cleveland’s cultural district, which features the Cleveland Museum of Art, Little Italy, Severance Hall, which is home to the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Clinic and Internationally known Case Western Reserve University

Downtown Cleveland is a 7 minute drive away where Cleveland residents enjoy such amenities as The House of Blues, The Great Lakes Science Center, The Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, Jacobs Field, The Gund Arena and the Warehouse District with its nightclubs and restaurants that cater to the diversity of Clevelanders.

Also located in the Glenville neighborhood is Rockefeller Park.  John D. Rockefeller left his legacy in Cleveland by endowing Rockefeller Park to the city as well as the Old Arcade located downtown.  This beautiful parkway contains the Cultural Gardens, which signify the ethnic diversity of the city, and bike and walking trails, the Lagoon, playground and tennis courts.  Lake Erie provides swimming and boating and even ice fishing for the more adventurous.
