Hike the Brook! Series Residents are invited to take a hike along the Doan Brook in Rockefeller Park with Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and Organic Connects to learn more about the natural resources in their own backyard. All participants will be given hats, gloves and treated to a hot drink after the tour. Hikes will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 20 and March 20. Due to public health guidelines, each tour will be limited to two groups of no more than 10 people. Masks will be required and provided for all attendees. Call (216) 791-6476 to register. The hikes are meant for beginners, but will include some inclines and uneven surfaces so please wear appropriate footwear.
To best prepare for this activity, here are some suggestions for winter warmth:
Always layer up!
Best fabrics – wool, synthetic blends (polyester, fleece), cashmere
Worst fabrics – cotton/flannel (Cotton holds water and dries slowly.)
What to Wear:
Base Layer [top] – Long sleeve t-shirt or long john undershirt or turtleneck
Base Layer [bottom] – Leggings or long john underpants
Middle Layer [top] – Sweater, sweatshirt, or hoodie
Middle Layer [bottom] – Water-resistant outdoor pants (Jeans are ok if worn with a base layer.)
