Conserve water use and expenses! Benefit local watersheds! Benefit plants and gardens!
A rain barrel is a 55 gallon container used to collect rain and snow melt that falls on roofs, traveling through downspouts and eventually storm drains and storm sewers, often contributing to combined sewer overflows into Doan Brook and Lake Erie.
For $35 at our DIY rain barrel workshop, we’ll supply the barrel, parts, tools, and show you how to construct a closed, 55 gallon rain barrel system that can be easily attached to any standard residential downspout to collect and conserve rainwater for use watering your plants and yard. Rainbarrels can also be used to apply for sewer bill credits.
